Indian government forces have acted without regard for international humanitarian law and have violated the laws of war by using lethal force against peaceful demonstrators, shooting scores of unarmed civilians. Numerous abuses of beatings, torture, burning neighborhoods, rape, extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detentions, along with the censorship and doctoring of the press, are the product of policies condoning human rights violations by Indian forces.
